CHICAGO, IL – December 1, 2025 – Today, the Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF) announced the launch of its 2025 Statewide Illinois Visibility Campaign, a comprehensive, multi-channel public awareness effort spanning billboards, transit, digital media, streaming audio, and community-based placements across Illinois. The campaign aims to ensure that anyone facing barriers to abortion care—whether in Illinois or traveling from restrictive bordering states—knows exactly where to turn for trustworthy, compassionate support.

Developed in partnership with The Instigation Department, led by strategist Corey Richardson, and KC Media Strategy, led by Latasha Newman, the campaign represents one of the most far-reaching reproductive access communications efforts in the Midwest. Creative copywriting was led by Kia Smith, with art direction by Ana Carina Gallo. The project was guided by CAF’s Executive Director Megan Jeyifo, Deputy Director Qudsiyyah Shariyf, and managed by Director of Advocacy and Communications Alicia Hurtado, who played a critical role in moving the work from concept to completion.

A Lifeline in Plain Sight

In the aftermath of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling, Illinois has become a vital access hub for people seeking abortion care throughout the Midwest. Many traveling from states including Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and Wisconsin face confusion, fear, and logistical barriers. The campaign meets these audiences where they are—on highways, buses, trains, and digital screens—with clarity and compassion.

The campaign will run from mid-October through December 21, 2025, with placements across Chicago, Chicagoland, Champaign/Urbana, Bloomington, Decatur, Springfield, Ottawa, and targeted border-state digital extensions. It directs people to CAF’s secure landing page and helpline, offering immediate access to funding, logistical coordination, and confidential guidance.

Total estimated impressions across Out-of-Home (OOH), digital, and audio exceed 26.6 million statewide.

A Strategy Built on Cultural Intelligence and Care

As CAF’s Agency of Record, The Instigation Department led the strategy, creative development, partner coordination, and media planning for the initiative. The agency designed the foundational message architecture and coordinated all OOH, digital, and audio executions. The approach married cultural insight, simplicity, and precision targeting to reach people in crisis moments with fast, trustworthy information.

KC Media Strategy
architected and executed a statewide media plan incorporating Clear Channel, Lamar, Intersection, Adams Outdoor, iHeart Media, Reset Digital, and multiple transit and community-based vendors. The media mix includes:

  • Digital & Static Billboards across Chicago, Chicagoland, and Central Illinois

  • CTA rail interiors, bus shelters, bikeshare posters, and PACE bus tails

  • Streaming audio across iHeart platforms (English + Spanish)

  • Programmatic display and geofenced retargeting statewide and into border states

  • Targeted Spanish-language placements in Cicero, Melrose Park, Summit, Stone Park, Back of the Yards, and Humboldt Park

Creative That Cuts Through Noise and Stigma

Led by copywriter Kia Smith and art director Ana Carina Gallo, the creative concept distills the campaign’s mission into clear, calming lines that speak directly to people navigating fear or confusion. Using bold typography, concise messaging, and an inclusive design approach, the campaign centers a single proposition: “You’re not alone. Help is here, now.”

Creative appears in both English and Spanish and includes short, high-impact headlines such as: “Abortion Care: Safe. Legal. Supported. In Illinois.” and “Need an abortion? You deserve support not barriers.”

These messages uplift the Chicago Abortion Fund as a critical resource meeting people in moments of uncertainty with clarity, affirmation, and compassion.
