We are advancing reproductive autonomy and justice for everyone.

WE SUPPORT

20,000+ callers

each year on our Helpline.

Last year, we spent $10 million on appointment and travel costs alone.

WE PROVIDE

Case Management

for callers accessing care in Illinois, and on behalf of our sibling funds in Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

WE SUPPORT

Illinois Clinics & Sibling Funds

amidst overwhelming demand.

In 2025, we distributed $1.8 million for clinic and provider capacity building.

CAF is the largest abortion fund in the country. Illinois has become the most critical access state in the nation, with 1 in 4 people in the U.S. traveling for abortion care relying on our state.

Our Impact Since the fall of Roe v. Wade

65%

of callers are caretakers or parents.

85%

of callers are based outside of Illinois.

$20M

spent on appointment costs & travel.

50K+

callers requesting support.

As we welcome more callers from around the country, we never lose sight of Illinoisans, especially low-income communities and communities of color who must continue to access care close to home. Through political advocacy and our partnerships, we strengthen Illinois’ reproductive health system.

Programs

our values

Care

We believe that care, love and compassion is justice in action.

Radical Autonomy

People have the right to abortion at any time during a pregnancy, for any reason, on their terms.

Intersectionality

We believe in the framework laid out by Kimberly Crenshaw that describes the impact of compounded oppression. We affirm that all people should have uninterrupted access to abortion.

Community Expertise

We believe in centering the expertise of people who have had abortions, and aim to bring them to the center of our work. We believe that people we work with are the experts of their lives.

Part of the Whole

We believe in collective liberation, and see reproductive justice as an integral piece of broader struggles for freedom.

Access

We believe that all people deserve access to the resources they need to thrive.

Reproductive Justice

We believe in the bold vision for reproductive justice laid out by 12 Black women leaders in Chicago in 1994, and work to advance people’s rights to parent, not parent, and to create families in safe and sustainable communities.

Our Team

Our Mission

The mission of the Chicago Abortion Fund is to advance reproductive autonomy and justice for everyone by providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion services and by building collective power and fostering partnerships for political and cultural change.

Our Vision

We envision a world where everyone has the freedom and autonomy to create lives, families, and communities that are healthy, safe, and thriving and where the full range of reproductive choices, including abortion, are accessible and affirmed.
