As we welcome more callers from around the country, we never lose sight of Illinoisans, especially low-income communities and communities of color who must continue to access care close to home. Through political advocacy and our partnerships, we strengthen Illinois’ reproductive health system.

Programs

  • CARLA - Complex Abortion Regional Line for Access

    We collaborate with four hospitals – Rush University Medical Center, UI Health (University of Illinois Chicago), Northwestern Medicine, and the University of Chicago Medicine – to expand access to hospital-based abortion care. The CARLA program reduces barriers for patients needing complex abortion care.

  • RAP - Responsible Adult Program

    The Responsible Adult Program (RAP) is a volunteer program created to meet the specific transportation needs for grantees getting hospital-based abortion care. RAP volunteers help ensure that every grantee has a friendly, grounding person to help them get home safely after their procedure.

  • Sibling Fund Case Management

    CAF provides case management, logistical coordination, and funding distribution on behalf of sibling abortion funds that do not currently have the infrastructure to meet the growing need in their states. By managing cases for people across Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Arkansas, we help ensure timely care for callers who would otherwise face delays, acting as the payor of last resort and stretching critical resources where they are needed most.

  • Pantry Program

    CAF’s pantry program delivers post-abortion aftercare supplies through clinics across Illinois. Rather than creating a new distribution system, we partner with clinics across the state to ensure abortion patients have the essential items that support them through the process – food for long travel days, menstrual and aftercare supplies, diapers and wipes for children who come with them, and the basic comforts that help them recover safely.
